DJ Clavette
Nostalgic, vintage, and classic are words you can often hear Los Angeles based DJ and producer clavette mutter about his brand of unapologetic House music. His career has been anything but typical, beginning in the world of advertisement music leading to a short stint of productions for pop artists, ultimately landing him in the dark and sweaty night clubs of LA. His journey as a musician has been led by his affection for the late 90’s French House scene, a genre defined by its raw and jackin’ nature, swirling disco samples, and addictive melodic and vocal hooks. A true ambassador for the sound, clavette has injected his past experiences into the ever saturated world of club music, bringing underground sounds and themes to a growing audience of house heads yearning for something fresh and new.
With a full year of releases under his belt, clavette showcased his uncanny ability for great dance hooks in 2021. The newcomer caught the attention of industry titans David Guetta, Idris Elba, Mark Knight, Paul Woolford, KC Lights, Wh0, Dannic, Charlie Hedges and many more with his eclectic sound dubbed “French House Revival.” clavette’s music was championed and released by labels such as Sony, Ultra, Toolroom, Simma Black, and Deep Root Records. Appearing everywhere from Sirius XM to BBC Radio 1, clavette has proven his sound is fresh and unique, while still retaining the traditions and influences which make up timeless House music. But clavette’s musical successes didn’t just stop at the typical gatekeepers of the industry. Grabbing the attention of fitness and lifestyle brands Nike and Peloton, clavette secured placements on the brands largest Spotify playlists and work out programs. While his name is spelled all lower case, his music and stature in the industry screams something much bolder.
Jumping into 2022, clavette released his stellar remix for electronic soul pop group Wake The Wild via label juggernaut Lowly, transforming the groups lead single “Made 4 U” into a French House dance floor bomb. Following on the string of remix work that closed out 2021, clavette showcased his dedication for the underground, releasing with disco starlett label Midnight Riot. “You Better Live It” premiered with disco house upcomer Bubs and veteran singer songwriter Lee Wilson. The single was remixed in fantastic fashion by Mark Brickman and Yam Who?, with both the original mix and remix of the record topping the Nu Disco charts on Traxsource, peaking at #8. In 2022, clavette’s total streams across all platforms crossed over 1 million, with the majority of those streams coming from Spotify. In part, his success relied on key editorial support from Spotify on tracks “Somebody,” which was released independently, as well as “Crazy” released on Quincy Boy Records.
A year of firsts, 2022 served as an integral year for out of state bookings for clavette as he played during Miami Music Week with Deep Root Records as well as bookings in New York playing with Quincy Boy Records. In Los Angeles, clavette played support for artists like The Magician, Goldroom, Mat.Joe, OFFAIAH, and Jason Bentley and established relationships with Insomniac, Wicked Paradise, Houston Hospitality group.
